TUSCANY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER × BASED IN FLORENCE, ITALY

EDITORIAL × RELAXED × EFFORTLESS × LAID-BACK × LUXURY × EXCLUSIVE × MODERN × TIMELESS

Really, I never thought about the possibility of being an Hawaii Wedding Photographer untill it’s happened, last month. It all started when Veronica, a dear colleague working in the north of Italy, called me some weeks ago, speaking about this wedding in Maui IslandHawaii, that unfortunately she could not photograph. First feeling was a mix of exciting, doubt and misgiving. Then, as soon as the possibility to be in Hawaii Islands to photograph a Wedding was becoming more concrete, all my sensations can be summarized as follows: scarily excited about the insane idea to travel alone on the other side of the world and back to photograph this wedding! Oh, and to do it in less than six days, of course…there are exacly 12 hour time zone difference from italy and Hawaii!
What was reassuring me in the days before leaving Italy was the great feeeling I immediatly got with Laura and Alessandro, the bride and groom to be. Laura and Ale are from Rome, but they actually live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from several years. They went in Maui (the second largest island) two years ago for vacation and they have fallen in love with that place. So last year they bacame to think about the crazy idea to get married there, for an intimate wedding in Maui with their closest relatives and friends. And just one month before the wedding day, not completely satisfied about what their wedding planner was proposing them, they started thinking about the idea to search a destination photographer worldwide. And at the end of the game I was THAT photographer. Crazy, isn’t it?
We met by Skype at the end of April and it was immediatly pretty clear we got the right feeling, and this was confirmet by the email conversation we was having in the following days, where Laura told me something more about their love story, and why Ale decided to cross an ocean to reach her. At this point just (!!!) 28hours- traveling were dividing me from becaming an Hawaii Wedding Photographer!

The bigger surprise (a bit expected if I’ve to be honest) was when I met Laura and Ale for the first time in the Maui Airport: it was like some friends who have not met for several years. Beautiful. They kept me there, bringing me with them, to have a dinner with their fantastic friends and kin; it goes without saying that all of them were very kind with me…again, like a friend that must be there not just because he has two cameras with him!
I Arrived there two days before the wedding and we had enough time to spend together and break the ice knowing each other. This was great, because the wedding day we hadn’t any kind of embarace and the day flowed away in a few. Love, joy, and emotions were there with us all day long , remembering us that it is not the location that makes a wedding day really unforgettable. I will never forget the beautifull typical ceremony ant its amazing ocean backdrop, the sound of the conch shell, the sunset on the beach with ocean and palms, and the super-relaxing landscapes. What an incredible atmosphere, that day!

I spent with Lau and Ale a lot of time that day, starting from the breakfast, to the beach untill the late evening. I smiled and cried, I was submerged by an ocean wave, and due to the f***ng time zoneI missed dozens of hours of sleep!!! So my favourites this time are really a lot this time, but I think you will enjoy reliving through my photos this amazing wedding in Hawaii. I came back to Italy jaded & happy and if I will have the possibility I definitely leave again immediatly for another crazy experience like this.

Dear Laura and Ale, thanks a lot for letting me cross the world to be your photographer,  I ‘m happy and honored for this. I’m sure our paths will cross again in the future. ALOHA MAHALO!!
